The Sr. Linux Administrator ensures 100% access to Servers and Applications in a mission critical environment. Ensure regular operation and availability of systems as implemented to support Zebra's business tools. Identify and resolve specific problems in the use and performance of systems.

Responsibilities:
Configure/administer servers and server-security in a mission critical environment. This includes servers, operational components, patch management, hardware and software upgrades, capacity planning; security, and disk allocation.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring successful tape backups of system data and auditing of those backups. Participates in disaster recovery exercises and creates DR procedures in line with the DR recovery WW standards.
Provide prompt analysis and resolution of systems, network and equipment problems. Liaise with IS technical / application development groups and or consultants on problem resolution, system upgrades and integration. May act as Technical Project Lead.
As a senior member of the team, mentor and provide technical and administrative guidance to the Client Administrators and other Systems Administrators as needed.
Document and maintain up-to-date systems procedures, systems installation check list and contingency plans.
Works in accordance with the change control procedures and ensures compliance of change control and any other IS procedure or work instruction that ensures compliance to IS policy and ISO. Establish and recommend policies on system use and services.
Provide emergency after hours support for mission critical systems as required. Perform system upgrades / maintenance after hours as required.
Provides records and data on specific performance/availability concerns as basis for problem identification/resolution and management reporting. 9. Maintains user security and overall system data integrity.
Participates in technical team meetings and provide updates to the world wide team as needed.
Uses helpdesk software to manage support cases assigned.
Tracks all time in accordance with IS policy.
Provides regular status reporting (verbal and written).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science preferred.

years hands-on experience and in depth knowledge of the Linux environment. Certification is desirable.
A solid understanding of an operating system; understands paging swapping, inter-process communications, device drivers, filesystem concepts and can use performance analysis to tune systems.
Ability to program in an administrative language (Perl, Python, shell, etc)
Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
Independent problem-solving, self-direction
Provide off-hour support as needed.
